Mast and Rigging for our Heard Tosher

When we bought Charm the rigging was in place but no sails were in situ so we had to work out where everything went and what attached to what!  Research on the internet revealed very little detailed information or close up photographs so while we've had the mast down this winter and overhauled the rigging I've taken a few to help us.

We took lots of high resolution photographs when we first bought Charm so that we could easily enlarge them on our tablet to get the detail.

These first photographs are of the original rigging:

We had the mast taken off Charm this year so that we could overhaul the rigging (having had the unfortunate incident of the topping lift strop breaking last season). The photograph below to the left shows the state of the other strops and the fact that we needed to get the mast hounds mended too.  The photo on the right is the finished efforts.

We decided to get Seadogs in Penryn to cover the metal stays with leather and the other half polished his ropework book off to make up brand new strops.

.....and after....
A further bonus for us was the fact that we turned up one dry weekend to discover that our mast was outside on horses temporarily so we quickly took advantage, sanded it down and slapped on two coats of Epifanes quick drying matt varnish while we could! Bargain!
